Prequel to The Godfather and Trailer, “The Family Corleone”

Compared to the actual book, the trailer for The Family Corleone is quite lighthearted. The first chapter of the novel has just been released on PW and is anything but humorous, reflecting the grim code of the Mafia. Ed Falco sets his work in 1933 when Vito Corleone is hoping his children will succeed in school, yet his oldest son,  Sonny, wants nothing more than to continue in the family business. The expected demise of Prohibition will create new tensions for organized crime: who will rise to the top and maintain control of the burgeoning liquor business?

Muppets Join in Buildup to Hunger Games DVD

Watching this trailer from the Muppets one gets the distinct impression that some of the, shall we say, urgency is lacking compared to the real Hunger Games trailer. I suppose asking Miss Piggy to consider sacrificing her coffee break, let alone her life would be out of the question… (Muppets trailer for Wocka Wocka Value Pack.)

“Scary” Mary Poppins

Just in time for Halloween, please allow us to introduce the latest craze sweeping the Internet.  Much like the horror mash-up trend that gave us the popular Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the creative and computer-savvy have taken to recutting classic movie trailers into something a bit more creepy.  Check out the entertaining “Scary” Mary Poppins below, and if you like what you see, you can find even more recut horror trailers over on YouTube.  Also, if you’re in the mood for some feature-length frights, take a look at the Chicago Tribune’s list of the 25 Scariest Movies for some spooky suggestions.  Happy Halloween!

Trailer for “The Raven” starring John Cusack

A trailer is out featuring John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe. He helps a detective pursue a serial killer who uses Poe’s writing as the basis for his crimes. Relativity Media issued the release in honor of the author’s 162nd death. Early reactions seem favorable. Use this link for EPL’s holdings of Poe’s works.

Very Short Trailer for The Hunger Games

This video clip is really short. (For devoted fans even a minute may be worthwhile! ) The above link includes a short article on reaction to the video shown at the MTV Video Music Awards. You’ll have to wait until March 2012 for the whole film. Until then try to get a copy of the books at EPL. (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay comprise the trilogy.)
